Bereavement Support Group

Have you recently been bereaved? Looking for friendship and support?

How about joining ‘NEW HORIZON’?

This group started in November 2012 as a way of offering care, friendship and support to people who have recently been bereaved.

Comments from some of the group members:

‘The meetings have been beneficial to me as it is good to know I am not alone and it is interesting to hear how others are getting on with their lives after bereavement’

‘The ‘New Horizon’ group welcomes any person wanting relief from their bereavement and sadness at losing a loved one.  We tend to look on the brighter side of life and frequently have moments of fun and laughter, and gently look forward to the future as our name suggests’

“Can’t wait to get here.”

“I enjoy the lovely chats and the friendliness.”

“If anyone is sad at times, everyone understands.”

“We give each other moral support.”

“Although we are a very mixed group we have something in common.”

“There is such a relaxed and happy atmosphere.”

“You can talk freely about grief and sadness and you can see in the faces of the others that they understand.”

“We share sadness and laughter.”

“Talking about our feelings is helpful.”

“We tend to look on the brighter side of life… gently looking forward to the future as our name suggests”

We meet on Thursday afternoons every fortnight (see calendar) at 2pm in the Conference Room, Cox Green Community Centre.  We begin with drinks and cake and time to catch up with one another, and then usually spend some time chatting as a group.  It is very relaxed and informal. There is no charge, although donations are welcome towards the costs of running the group. Newcomers welcome.  Do come with a family member or friend if you wish.
